Casa Higueras

Stay outside Granada in this expansive lodge ideal for families with children or teenagers.

If there is an example of how foreigners can adapt and blend into Andalucia, there is hardly better than Ian and Andrew, owners of the boutique B&B Casa Higueras. Every detail around the house showcases the hard work and vision of its two owners, Ian and Andrew. Ian has even succeeded to get himself elected on the local tourism board.
Previously a crumbling townhouse, the building was sedulously restored over a period of two years by the dedicated pair. And it shows. Stylish and cosy interiors complement magnificent views and charming walled sun terrace.
Guests can choose to stay in one of the property’s two bedrooms – both gorgeously decorated with en-suite bathrooms- and are also free to take advantage of a shared living room and a cosy snug -complete with an open fireplace and a well-stocked library. From June 2023 they can also use the sister property Esperanza 9, which accommodates up to 4 persons and also offers a plunge pool, quite a treat in the summer months.
A breakfast on the sunny upper terrace with far-reaching views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, reclining on a sun lounger and taking in the silence is worth the price of admission by itself. Then there is the cooking ( order in advance). If you already visited Granada and its sites, worry not – the village and surroundings abound with things to do and see. The ruins of the Moorish castle can be visited with a local guide – you will notice so many resemblances with the pise architecture of Morocco. We especially loved the walk to the water stream and back, along the verdant bluffs and suspended bridges.
As rooms are scarce and this being an original property, guests need to book in advance. Best visited all year round, less so in July and August. Honesty bar available on site.
